Nicola Young joins IAE 2008

Nicola’s initial thoughts on climate change…

Having been involved with environmental issues all of my working life I have always tried to express a balanced view, not avoided the issue and tried to make other people aware of the reasons behind climate change and the resulting impacts that we are seeing and could potentially experience in the future. I always use expression and try not to become an environmental bore!

  3. Bet you’re glad you did your ‘keep fit’ activities. Just can’t imagine what it is like on choppy seas in that temperature, but you sound chipper. Look forward to hearing about the wildlife you see on landing, if you can do that in those conditions. What happens if you get there and can’t get back; any helicopters arouind?

Let us knopw what surprises you most. You know a fair bit about the environment up there but experiencing it must be vastly different. Good luck with the activities. How was the climbing? I couldn’t have faced that, ever.

  4. Nicola / We were really interested to read your comments; keep them coming so that we can feed back to the family. Sounds like a fantastic expedition. Only one problem- we are also really getting into this Antartic business here - weather turned really cold here with strong cold winds and snow forecast for the Easter weekend but no Penguins or Albatross yet!!! Best wishes for the next stage. Tony and Fay

  5. Hello Nicola How exciting to get your news as I have several friends to keep informed. We have just had a cuddle with the twins and suggest you bring them back a penguin each to keep them amused. They can be kept in the freezer so that they feel at home. All looks fantastic and are looking forward to seeing your photos! We’ve been following your exploits; keep safe and look forward to seeing you back home. Best wishes from us all Kathleen
